A meticulously orchestrated composition of losses and gains creates a whole new countenance for the 2018 Honda Accord. Honda designers sought to achieve “a truly athletic appearance. Like a sprinter in the blocks”, and they succeeded. The wide lower body aesthetic is further enhanced by the steeper greenhouse angles. Inside, the seats have been positioned slightly inward to enhance shoulder, hip and headroom. Rear passengers have almost 2-inches of additional legroom versus the previous model, thanks to the longer wheelbase. Passenger space and trunk space have increased an impressive 2.5 cubic feet and almost 1 cubic feet, respectively (vs. the previous version’s LX trim level). Even more aerodynamic than its predecessor, this Accord features a prominent air intake positioned below the iconic winged chrome front grille. Available 9-lamp full-LED headlights and LED fog lights add further additional interest to the aggressive front fascia. The sculpted hood marries a raised center to profoundly curvaceous body sides, which adds additional visual elongation. The rear fascia maintains the seamless flow with its flawlessly integrated dual exhaust ports, LED light –pipe taillights and up-swept deck lid.
With improved interior space, quality materials and a design that surpasses the midsize class echelon, the interior of the 2018 Honda Accord truly embraces the notion of attainable luxury. A “Panoramic forward view” is achieved by the narrower roof pillars and lower cowl. The newly designed instrumentation panel features a sleek profile and three-tier design which pairs nicely with the strong upper deck. The continuity of styling emanates throughout the dash to the side door sills to create a feeling of sophistication and openness. Everything from the sports-inspired contours of the newly designed steering wheel to the painstaking planned interior details and materials conveys a true sense of modern elegance. The new design and positioning of the seats allow more movement and comfort. Design enhancements to the front and rear armrests combined with taller shoulder bolstering create additional comfort and style. The 2018 Honda Accord driver’s seats allow premium comfort with 12-way power adjustment and lumbar support that can be adjusted to accommodate the driver’s height. New heated and ventilated seats are also an available feature. The sleek drivers’ meter is an ultra slim 7” TFT, complemented by a new 8” Display Audio touchscreen interface. This touchscreen features popular physical knobs for volume and tuning, along with smartphone inspired usability. The driver will enjoy customizable app tiles, home-screen short cuts and Apple CarPlay™ and Android Auto™ compatibility. Next generation HondaLink™ offers new features such as emergency roadside assistance, remote locking/unlocking and engine start, remote diagnosis, geofencing, speed tracking, stolen vehicle tracking and more. Specific trim levels will also offer a 6-inch Head Up Display. You can choose which information you would like displayed (speed, engine rpm, navigation instructions, Traffic Sign Recognition). The base LX model features a 4-speaker 160 watt stereo system, while the highest trim levels (EX-L and Touring) feature a 10 speaker 450 watt sound system. All trim levels include 2 USB charging ports and Bluetooth connectivity. (Plus, this will be the first Honda with in-car Wi-Fi!).
A lighter and more rigid body structure and newly designed chassis combined with a new 1.5 liter DOHC direct-injected turbo with dual Variable Timing Control (dual VTC) generates an impressive 192 horsepower at 5,500 rpm and 192 lb-ft of torque. An available 2.0-liter 16-valve DOHC direct-injected turbo with i-VTEC® valve train can be matched with a 10-speed automatic transmission or a 6-speed manual transmission. The new 2.0 Liter engine is brethren to the sporty 2017 Honda Civic Type R and produces an assertive 252 horsepower at 6,500 rpm and 273 lb-ft of torque. The new engines are designed to deliver impressive performance while still achieving first-rate fuel economy. The automatic transmissions capitalize on torque for power, yet still achieve a quiet and fuel friendly driving experience. The redesigned manual transmission’s reduced ratio translates to more powerful acceleration. All of these improvements combined with the 2018 Honda Accord’s enhanced body and new chassis design means a driving experience that is sure to delight. And, for the first time, the Honda Sensing® suite of driver assistive technology comes standard on all 2018 Honda Accord trim levels. The all-new 2018 Honda Accord that you’ve been waiting for has now arrived at Keenan Honda in Doylestown, PA!
