How to Use CabinTalk™ in the 2018 Honda Odyssey

One of the most exciting new innovations in the all-new 2018 Honda Odyssey is CabinTalk.™ This feature uses specially placed speakers and a microphone that allow the driver/front passengers to clearly hear and speak to passengers in the 2nd and 3rd rows. Even if your passengers in the back have their rear-entertainment headphones on,  CabinTalk™ will still be audible. This available automotive “PA system” not only makes it easy to communicate with rear-seat passengers, it also improves safely, as the driver no longer will have to be distracted, or turn their head, to make audible contact with all passengers on board!

Plus, it’s really easy to use – We’ve outlined the steps below, and provided a video that quickly goes through how to use the CabinTalk™ feature in the 2018 Honda Odyssey.

  1. Touch the “CabinTalk™” app icon on the display audio home screen, this will mute the audio, allowing you to communicate to the rear seat passengers through their headphones. (CabinTalk™ will also play through the Elite Trim level 3rd row speakers).
  2.  If your 2nd and 3rd row passengers are watching a video, CainTalk™ will pause the sound and video through the Blueray player. This works on some streaming apps as well. However, CabinTalk™ will not mute audio if a video being played through an external source, such as a device hooked up through the HDMI cable or flash drive.
  3. When CabinWatch™ is activated, there is a CabinTalk™ app icon on the touchscreen, so you can easily turn it on or off.
  4. When you are ready to go silent, CabinTalk™ can be turned off easily by selecting the “Home” or “Back” button on your display audio screen.

Now that we have the all-new 2018 Honda Odyssey in stock, stop by for a test drive and experience CabinTalk™ for yourself!
