2019 Honda Civic: What’s New?

The Honda Civic underwent an epic overhaul in 2016, and now the 2019 model promises to be even more remarkable. The 2019 Civic Sedan and Coupe lineup offers some serious upgrades, including an enhanced design, a new Sport trim and more standard technology in the base level Civic than ever.

Design Enhancements:

The 2019 Honda Civic maintains the aesthetic of the popular 10th-generation redesign, with some subtle enhancements that add a touch of understated elegance and aggressive appeal. The front fascia presents as wider and more expressive thanks to a new “blacked-out headlight treatment” and black gloss on the iconic Honda wing. Fine chrome accents on the front bumper along with a subtle chrome strip on the rear bumper give the new Civic even more sophisticated allure. Three new colors will grace the new Civic lineup; Platinum White Pearl, Molten Lava Pearl (Sedan Only) and Tonic Yellow Pearl (Coupe only).

The interior feels more refined than the previous model year due to a redesigned (more intuitive) steering wheel/steering wheel controls, center console cup holder and dash trim. LX and EX (for Coupe) feature gunmetal grey dash trim, awhile the EX, EX-L, and Touring sedans (Touring only for the Coupe) feature a metallic finish. All trim levels offer 360 degrees of improved quietness thanks to extra insulation in the floor, trunk, front and front fenders and brand new sound installation added to the rear fenders.

New Sport Trim

The 2019 Honda Civic Sedan and Coupe lineup now offers a brand-new Sports Trim. This level is situated between the LX and EX, and offers a 2.0-liter engine (manual or CVT) and extra styling enhancements (fog lights with gloss black trim, 18” wheels, all-season tires and a black-painted decklid spoiler). Civic Si inspired sport badging and a center-mounted chrome exhaust finisher round out the athletic appeal of this new trim level.

New Features and Technology

One of the most exciting tech enhancements is that the Honda Sensing® suite of driver-assistive technology (which now includes new automatic high beams) comes standard on every 2019 Honda Civic trim level. An electronic parking brake with an automatic Brake Hold feature and 7-inch digital TFT instrument cluster will also be standard on all trims. The Civic Sport models include all of the above and add a redesigned 7-inch Display Audio system with Apple CarPlay™ and Android Auto™ integration.

EX and above trims get a new 8-way power adjustable driver’s seat complimented by an elegant leather wrapped steering wheel and shift knob. 17-inch alloy wheels, a power moonroof,  Honda LaneWatch™, hands-free entry with push button start, an updated audio system, heated front seats and remote start are additional features included in the EX trim. Move up one level to the EX-L and enjoy leather seats, Homelink® and an auto-dimming rear view mirror. The highest (Touring) Trim adds new 18” wheels, paddle shifters (with the automatic transmission), sports pedals, redesigned LED headlights that cast a longer/wider beam, rain sensing wipers, side-mirror turn-signals, embedded navigation and heated rear seats (sedan only).

Horsepower and Fuel Economy

The LX Sedan and Coupe are powered by a 2.0L engine which pumps out an impressive 158 hp with 138 lb/ft of torque. Available in either an automatic Continuously Variable Transmission (CVT) or 6-speed manual, the 2.0L continues to maintain impressive fuel economy ratings.  CVT EX, EX-L and Touring trims have a turbo-charged 4-cylinder 1.5 liter engine that outputs 174 hp with 162 lb/ft of torque, while still maintaining best-in-class fuel economy of 32/42 city/highway*
