The all-new and completely redesigned 2016 Honda Civic has joined its brethren among the 2016 Insurance Institute for Highway Safety (IIHS) Top Safety Pick+ lineup. (Just about a month ago, the 2016 Honda Pilot, CR-V, Accord Coupe and Accord Sedan also made the cut). Restyled and revamped, the 2016 Honda Civic proves it’s more than a pretty face, it’s a safety powerhouse. The IIHS gave it a top SUPERIOR rating for frontal crash prevention (when equipped with Honda Sensing™, which is available on all 2016 Civic trim levels). Plus, in the challenging five crash test modes (including the stringent small overlap frontal crash test), the 2016 Civic earned a top rating of GOOD.

“As these new safety ratings demonstrate, the 2016 Civic Sedan not only brings new value to the compact segment with its hefty upgrades to fun-to-drive performance, fuel efficiency, refinement and technology, it also delivers advanced collision safety performance….”With its available Honda Sensing technologies, including our first application of Adaptive Cruise Control with Low-Speed Follow, the new Civic Sedan offers customers a suite of technologies unlike anything else in the class.” – Jeff Conrad, senior vice president and general manager of the Honda Division.

All 2016 Honda Civic models come with remarkable standard safety features such as next-generation Advanced Compatibility Engineering™ (ACE™) body structure, Vehicle Stability Assist® with Traction Control, Anti-Lock Brakes with Brake Assist, a Multi-Angle Rearview Camera and much more. If you opt to add in the Honda Sensing™ suite of safety technologies, you’ll enjoy a host of driver-assistive technologies to keep an unwavering eye on the road, and respond for you, if needed, to avoid a collision. These technologies include Collision Mitigation Braking System™ (CMBS™), Forward Collision Warning (FCW) – integrated with CMBS, Lane Keeping Assist (LKAS), Road Departure Mitigation (RDM), Lane Departure Warning – integrated with RDM and Adaptive Cruise Control (ACC) with Low-Speed Follow.

We’ll be keeping you updated as new 2016 Honda Civic models roll out (be on the lookout for the new Coupe, Si, 5-door hatchback and the first Civic Type-R model in the U.S. market), but rest assured that whichever Civic you choose, you’ll be driving one of the most safe, stylish and technologically forward vehicles you can buy.
